It will be remembered for the Iraq War

Like all preceeding years, year 2003 is nearing an end. A less than couple of days more from now and we bid bye to it overwhwlmed with joy of welcoming the New Year. Year 2003 will soon be history, away from common interest, with memories both pleasant and tragic in nature.

Talking of history: yes, year 2003 will deserve a distinct place. Political upheavels, social turmoil, natural calamities and moral epidemics which occur in a year are all region specific.Quite a number of such occurances tainted the year, painted it gray making many people unhappy in many places.

But one massive event that qualifies the year 2003 for a place in the circle of 'historical years'is the war on Iraq, to be more specific America's war on Iraq.

We were told nothing was fine inside Iraq: it was despotic autocracy with oppressive noose strangling the democratic aspirations of the civil society and breeding WMDs which are so detrimental to the sheer existance of the world around. So, there was war. America (say, USA) flew all the way to invade Iraq and conquer it.

Dear friends, has a single unit of WMD been discovered from the soil of Iraq as yet ? Has the democratic aspirations of the Iraqis been given vent till date ? The simple answer is 'No' The war propaganda was needed to prepare ground for the invasion.

Every sovereign country reserves the right to govern itself without external interference, Whether governance is good and deserves to be continued or bad and warrants a change , the decision should remain the prerogative of the people of that country. There is no dearth of wisdom anywhere in the universe. Even the less developed, the least educated and the ill previleged countries have wise citizens who are endowed with prudent judgement and valour to effect changes. A developed, an enlightened and an affluent society should not and must not assume the role of a saviour, If it does so, that is svagery

Year 2003 will always be remembered for the Iraq War that trampled sovreignty and fundamental rights of a nation and honour of its children.

You mean the children that Saddam was murdering? Those children? Better to be tortured and killed by a sadist than risk losing one's "honor" to being able to build a democratic country?

I am sure there were people sad about Nazi Germany's passing too. Sheesh.

Agreed, a sovereign nation is sovereign, but non-combatant devices are essential in coercing a nation that is sovereign only to its crude leaders.

Me oh my, 2003..the War in Iraq..it's just sooooooooo terrible. I'm not a hawk, but I certainly am not a bleeding heart dove.
First of all, what is done is done. You, personall, cannot change that fact..Yet, here we are..'lamenting' over it continously.
Alright, you disapprove of the war..Okay, that's your Prerogative, but come on. You make what happened to sound like an act of Satan with Bush wearing the horns..
Just because you disapprove. How about you go out and protest Harry Potter, save a tree, and force everyone to stop smoking.
Everybody acts like "they" know what really happened and that "their" opinion is the truth.
Everybody's biased. It's just those who oppose the war are the loudest screamers of bloody murder.
It happened during the Vietnam war, as well..and appears it will continue to whenever there will be a conflict of any importance.
Goutamsivoji, if it had been your family killed in 9/11, if you were a native of Iraq..(I've never seen their opinions, good or ill that was media-influenced), your views would be Very different.
Regardless of what face you put on, no matter the sob story, the massive vocabulary you use, you are all hate-mongering 'pacifists' with an agenda. Grr, that's so frustrating.
Grow up and move on!

If that was the case, we would have turned Iraq into a giant parking lot with Seven-11's every mile and a half.

What I like is how he says that the people of Iraq WANTED to be killed, tortured, terrorized, etc. or they would have done something about it themselves.

It's one thing to take a stand against a tyrant when you are only risking your own self but to stand against Saddam was putting your whole family at risk of torture and murder.

I find the whole concept of sovereignty baffling when you're dealing with a dictator.  What exactly made Saddam Hussein the sovereign leader of Iraq? What special, magical, protection should he have enjoyed?

American Patriot , and Oscar Winner Michael Moore is working hard on putting together the film that will bring down the Bush dynasty , and expose some of their dirty dealings , and Treasonous behavior that has personified George W Bush .

The film is titled Farenheit 911 . As Mr Moore says , the temperature in which 'Freedom Burns " . It is due to be released just 2 months before the presidential elections of 2004 . It will show and discuss the connections between the Bush's and the Bin Ladens , the business dealings , the contributions , and many , many other things . There has been an attempt by right wing organizations to have filming stopped , and are threatening a Lawsuit . As Mr. Moore has reportedly said , if I'm lying , let them sue me . I don't think they want this thing run through the legal system .

It tells "in part the story of twin errant sons of different oilmen," he says, and will stir together the pre-9/11 intersection of Bush and bin Laden family business interests when both had ties to the Carlyle Group. Mr. Moore recalls Jane Mayer's article in the November 2001 New Yorker about the private Saudi jet that the Bush administration permitted to fly 24 members of the bin Laden family out of the country after 9/11, before they could be questioned in detail by the F.B.I. "Here's one question I want to pose," he says. "What if on the day after Oklahoma City, Bill Clinton, suddenly worried about the safety of the McVeigh family up in Buffalo, allowed a jet to pick them all up and take them out of the country, not to return?"
You can already fantasize how Mr. Moore, once he is turned away from the White House, might travel to Kennebunkport to pursue the first President Bush in retirement much as he did Charlton Heston in "Bowling for Columbine." - If you have never seen Bowling For Columbine , you need to see it for the Michael Moore - Charlton Heston interview by itself .

The House of Cards that Bush built will fall in . The press coverage on this film will be tremendous . CBS has reportedly called it, " Perhaps the most influential political film ever produced . A film that could very well cost a president a re-election . In a day and time when most think , one man can no longer make a difference , one man will make a difference".

Below is a quote recently accredited to Lt. Comander Al Martin . He was a long time friend of Bush Sr . It's just another nail in the coffin .

"You have to look at the entire Bush Family in this context - as if the family ran a corporation called ‘Frauds-R-Us,’

George Jr.’s specialty was insurance and security fraud.
Jeb’s specialty was oil and gas fraud.
Neil’s specialty was real estate fraud.
Prescott’s specialty was banking fraud.
And George Sr.’s specialty? All of the above."

In 1933, the world took a turn that even today we find it hard to believe. Over the years the period between 1933 to 1945 has slowly become a ghost in the wind. This was a period when killing wasn’t considered a crime, but a political necessity.

To hell with Michael Moore, and his hatred toward the Bush family. Let take a look at what was happening during the above period.

First Stalin was in the process of killing or imprisoning 38,000,000 of his countryman. The Japanese were declaring war on most of the far east, and yes killing along with imprisoning several million people (including woman and children. Then there was the Late Great Hitler. He didn’t care if it was his own countryman, and women he kill. He killed people all over Europe from Jews, Gypsies, tramp (we call them homeless), or if you did not fit the profile of blond, blue eyed, and fair skinned.

People were herded like cattle to the “Death Camp” to be killed (murdered is a better word) without even be given the chance of a trail. The only thing they really knew was that they were either a Jew, or somehow related to one (there were of course others who died in these horrific camps).

Why did these people allow themselves to be killed in this manner? Why didn’t they revolt against their jailers, and murderers? There is no real answer to either of these questions. However, this is what was happening in Iraq. The people were being killed, and tortured by a Hitler/Stalin styled dictator. By a man who patterned this governing styles after the fore mentioned human pieces of “Human Excrement.”

There are times when people cannot come to their own help because men like those mentioned above have their fingers on the devises that can kill, or imprison their own countryman, and women. Hence, it comes to past that we as humans must help those who are at a point where they are incapable of helping themselves because of the fear being installed by a horrific dictator.

Hilary Clinton wrote a book, “It Takes A Village,” and yes you can say it was about raising and giving aid to children, however, it can go the other way also. And, that is giving aid and comfort to those who cannot give it until themselves.
